Cho-co-lat! Hello best dessert for entertaining ever!!!!
So when you are having a dinner party and you want to make a dessert ahead of time, make this!!! It’s so good and in a martini glass, it looks so fancy!!!
The initial recipe does not call for Chili powder but I added some to give it a little kick and it was really awesome!! Ask your guests to guess what is that “special” flavor, they will never get it!
Anyways, this is a great recipe because you can actually sit down with your friends/family and relax and when it’s time for dessert, you just pop them out of the fridge and serve them cold!
Recipe slightly altered from: http://www.marthastewart.com/334238/double-chocolate-pudding?czone=food/dinner-tonight-center/dinner-tonight-dessertsCourse: Dessert Yield: 4 servings Prep Time: 190 mins Cook Time: 10 mins
Ingredients
- 2/3 Cup of sugar
- 1/3 Cup unsweetened cocoa
- 1/4 Teaspoon salt
- 1/4 Cup cornstarch
- 2 1/2 Cup of whole milk
- 4 egg yolks
- 2 Tablespoon of unsalted butter
- 1 Teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1/4 Teaspoon of chili powder
- 2 lady finger cookies
- 6 strawberries, cleaned and chopped
- 1 Cup of whipped cream
Instructions
- Place a fine-mesh sieve over a medium bowl; set aside. In a medium saucepan, whisk together sugar, cocoa, cornstarch, and salt. Gradually whisk in milk, taking care to dissolve cornstarch. Whisk in egg yolks.
- Whisking constantly, heat over medium until the first large bubble sputters, about 8 minutes. Reduce heat to low; cook, whisking, 1 minute. Remove from heat; immediately pour through sieve into bowl. Add butter, vanilla, chili powder and chocolate; stir until smooth.
- Place plastic wrap on surface of pudding (to prevent a skin from forming); chill at least 3 hours (or up to 3 days). To serve, whisk until smooth; divide among serving cups, and garnish with whipped cream, crushed lady fingers and chopped strawberries.
- Enjoy!
