Personally, I think plain french toasts are kind of boring but a lady from work told me that one of her friend made this recipe for her one week-end and it was delicious so I decided to give it a try! Now, this recipe is not an “actual” recipe so make it the way you want!
Recipe Source: Pascale from work and me 🙂
Course: Breakfast Yield: 4 servings Prep Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 10 mins
Ingredients
- 8 pieces of bread (whichever bread is your favourite, I like 12 grain bread)
- 4 egg whites (trying to make this recipe with less calories) you can put the whole eggs
- 3/4 Cup of milk
- 1 stick (more or less) of butter
- 1/2 Cup of chopped walnuts
- 1/2 Cup of brown sugar
- 4 ripped peaches, sliced
- 1/2 Cup of maple syrup (to drizzle on the toasts)
- 2 Tablespoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Start the oven at 450F.
- In a large bowl, mix the egg whites, half of the cinnamon and the milk.
- Heat up a large pan and keep the heat at medium high. Add in a table spoon of butter. Let it melt in the pan.
- Dip each piece of bread in the egg mixture and cook in the pan (do 4 at a time, if you can).
- Flip the bread once the cooked side is brown. Take them out of the pan when the other side is also brown.
- When you are done cooking the bread, take a cookie sheet (or two if you dont have enough space) put parchemin paper on it and place the bread pieces side by side on the cookie sheet.
- Place peaches slices on each toast, sprinkle them with brown sugar (about a tablespoon each). Put a doll-up of butter on top and sprinkle walnuts on top. Put the cookie sheets in the oven, on a high rack for the element to be close to the toasts. Bake for about 10 minutes (until the butter and the sugar create a tiny crust on the bread or are bubbling. Take the french toasts out of the oven and sprinkle some more cinnamon on them.
- Enjoy!
