I am a planner and I have an obsession with lists! So…I have already started to plan my Thanksgiving meal! (I’m a crazy perfectionist!).

My neighbour (I have the best neighbours ever because they love food as much as I do!), she went to pick some cranberries a few days ago and brought some back for us as well, so I decided to start testing cranberry sauces!

Here’s what I came up with! Very simple and delicious! Add sugar to your liking!

cranberry sauce

Course: Snacks    Yield: 4 servings    Prep Time: 5 mins    Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • 3 Cup of fresh cranberries
  • 2/3 Cup of white sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon of orange zest
  • 1/2 Cup of orange juice

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, put all of the ingredient and bring to a boil.
  2. When it reaches a boil, put the heat down and let it simmer for 10 to 15 minutes or until all the cranberries have popped completely.
  3. If you don't think it's sugary enough, add a bit of sugar, to your liking.
  4. Enjoy!

Hi Alexandra, Just had to tell you that I made it for our Canadian thanksgiving dinner tonight and it was the best cranberry sauce we have ever eaten.
Will never buy the canned one again. If only I had known that it was so easy to make. Thank you!

The tradition is to put the can of store bought cranberry sauce in a bowl and see if anyone asks for a can opener to eat the stuff. 5 years on the same can and we just keep using it each year. πŸ˜‰

My husband, known as Fruitman, brought home some bog fresh cranberries. I made your sauce, substituting water instead of orange juice. It is excellent. Very sweet and tangy.
