Aren’t these super cute???

I have been making this recipe for years now and I never get sick of it! I love making this appetizer when I entertain because it’s extremely delicious and fairly easy/quick to prepare. It’s always a hit! So this little package of goodness contains brie cheese, cranberry preserves and dijon mustard. The flavour together are just wonderful!! We usually buy a fresh baguette to spread it on. I just made it two nights ago and after supper, Karl told me that this might just be his favourite appetizer yet (but he says that for pretty much everything!;) ) I have the best boyfriend ever; he eats everything!

Baked BrieAnyways! Hope you make them for your next party :)!

(recipe by me)

Course: Appetizers    Yield: 8 servings    Prep Time: 10 mins    Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 package of phyllo pastry sheet (you won't use the whole thing)
  • 1 round brie cheese
  • 6 Tablespoon cranberry preserves (about)
  • 6 Tablespoon of melted butter
  • 6 Tablespoon of dijon mustard (about)

Instructions

  1. *You will need a brush*
  2. Preheat oven at 425F.
  3. I usually buy a round brie and I cut one inch squares in it. Put about a teaspoon of dijon mustard and a teaspoon of cranberry preserves on it.
  4. Take half of a sheet of phyllo pastry, brush it with melted butter and wrap it well around the cheese square. Do the same step again with the other half of the phyllo sheet. Make sure it is well wrapped because when it bakes, we want to avoid the cheese melting and leaking out of the package.
  5. Take another half of a phyllo pastry sheet and brush it with melted butter. Wrap the cheese package in it but this time make a bow on top by gently twisting the top so it stays this way. Put melted butter around it to make it hold better.
  6. Repeat until you run out of cheese :)
  7. Place the little packages on a cookie sheet covered with parchemin paper and bake it in the oven on the middle rack for about 10 minutes.
  8. You can also do the same thing but with the whole piece of cheese. Slice the whole cheese in half, length wise and spread dijon mustard and cranberry preserves between the to slices. Put the cheese slices back together (one on top of the other) and spread more dijon and cranberry preserves on top of the cheese. wrap the cheese with phyllo pastry, just like I mentioned a bit higher. Leave it in the oven for 20 minutes to make sure the whole cheese is melted. :) Enjoy!
