How to chop an onion in perfect little square pieces

How to chop an onion in perfect small square pieces? It’s very easy! 4 steps and you have a perfectly chopped onion!

1.Clean your onion (take the peel off)

2.Cut your onion in half, from one end to the other. (see picture)

3.While holding the onion down, cut slices horizontally but stop at about 1/4 inch from the other end. Do this until you get to the top. You layers should be about 1/8 inch thick. (See pictures)

Now hold you onion on one side and start slicing vertically, once again, not cutting all the way to the end. Again, ¼ inch think slices.

The last step is to cut from top to bottom, like the pictures below shows.(Discard the end piece).

    not perfect, if you want PERFECT squares you must cut the curved sides of the onion half (not the root ends) then turn onion over and take out the “heart” or middle, then continue at step 4, omitting step 3 (omit slicing horizontally, make only vertical cuts) as the onion segments are already segmented evenly now…then continue with last step. NOW you have perfect onion squares.
